HWNY’s sister organization, the Central New York Area Health Education Center (CNYAHEC), was established in 2001 as a non-profit 501(c)(3) community-based organization working to improve health care access, delivery, and outcomes in a 14-county region of Central New York. As a partner invested in advancing CNYAHEC’s Mission, HWNY provides invaluable services and technology that allow for maximum impact of the various workforce programs being delivered.
One such CNYAHEC Program is the Upstate Medical University Job Shadow Program. In partnership with Upstate Medical University, CNYAHEC pairs selected prospective students with a preceptor at the University’s medical facilities in one of the high-needs careers.
To allow CNYAHEC to spend more time focused on Mission-aligned outcomes, HWNY has built and implemented an HWapps Program Platform that allows for prospective students selected by Upstate Medical University Admissions to register for job shadowing opportunities with a preceptor, and provide the necessary reporting and tracking. Digitizing manual program management processes has created a improvement in overall experience and saves time and money.
